South Korean boy band BTS entered the list of the most expensive artists in the world by Forbes’ Celebrity 100. In the list released on Wednesday, July 10, 2019, a boy band consisting of Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, RM, Jin and Jungkook was registered at number 43. They became the only Korean boy band and celebrities to enter this list.
According to Forbes, in the past year this K-pop idol earned income of US $ 57 or nearly Rp 800 billion. Most of the group income made by Big Hit Entertainment comes from the world tour Love Yourself: Speak Yourself. This concert was held to support their record-breaking album Love Yourself, Her, Tear, and Answer.
The tour began in North America, continuing into Europe and Asia. The band’s first six stadium concerts showed an income of US $ 44 million or more than Rp. 616 billion.
The release of two of their concert films, Burn The Stage and BTS World Tour: Love Yourself in Seoul, in November 2018, also contributed their cash. Film Burn The Stage: The Movie is said to generate US $ 18 million. While BTS World Tour: Love Yourself in Seoul recorded US $ 11.7 million or around Rp 164 billion.
BTS has also released the latest album Map of The Soul: Persona. Not to mention the ad deals with big brands like Hyundai and Coca Cola, which certainly contributed millions of US dollars in revenue as well.
In June 2019, the group released a new business, the BTS World game application. Although not yet taken into account because it is outside the Forbes evaluation period, BTS World is listed as the top ranked game in the app store worldwide.
This game, the result of collaboration between Big Hit Entertainment and Netmarble Corp, promises a personal experience for each Army. Players are invited to go back to before the popular BTS personnel, then guide them to the global stage.
BTS World players are free to determine what the personnel eat, which dance classes to take, and maybe even send them rude text messages to ensure that they have arrived for practice on time.
What if the personnel fail? BTS World provides several variations, including a “Another Story” mode where members do not pursue careers as K-pop stars but instead take different paths in life.
List of celebrities with the most expensive paid version of Forbes is released every year. In 2019, the top five places will be Taylor Swift, Kylie Jenner, Kanye West, Lionel Messi and Ed Sheeran.
